NanoPWM Servo Drives
ACS Motion Control (Israel) has developed a line of switching PWM servo drives that deliver
sub-nanometer position jitter performance and nanometer level following error while moving at constant
velocity. The new NanoPWM provides quality positioning and tracking performance. Features include:
• Availability as part of ACS' MC4U Control Modules.
• Operation from 100 V.
• Up to 15/30A (Cont./Peak) of current.
• An error of ± 10 nm at speeds of 100 mm/sec.
Why Would I Specify?
• The NanoPWM servo drives are suitable for applications such as 450 and 300 mm semiconductor wafer
inspection systems.
• The drives provide ultimate standstill jitter and a smooth velocity.
• Using a SPiiPlus controller and NanoPWM drives controlling an XY table with speeds above 1 m/sec, standstill
jitter is better than ±0.3 nm.
High-Density Discrete LED
Cree (Durham, NC) has introduced the XLamp XB-H LED, the brightest discrete in Cree’s
high-density (HD) class of LEDs, delivering a combination of lumen output and efficacy in a small
package. The XB-H joins the XQ-E in the family of HD class discrete LEDs that offer a high optical
control factor (OCF). Features include:
• >500 lumens at 1.5 A.
• A 2.45 mm2 package.
• Up to 175 lumens-per-watt efficacy at 1W, 25°C.
• Availability in color temperatures ranging from 2700K to
8300K.
• CRI options of 70, 80, 85, and 90.
Why Would I Specify?
• The XLamp uses Cree’s ceramic package technology for
long L70 lifetimes at both high temperature and current.
• The XB-H LED delivers up to 499 lumens at 5W, 85°C.
• Compatibility with most optics designed for the Cree XP family
of LEDs, allows lighting manufacturers to leverage the optics of
existing lighting designs and improve time to market.

Draw Wire Units
Covering up to 30 M
Leine & Linde (Schaumburg, IL) WDS
series draw-wire length measurement units
provide up to 30
meters of position
data for lifts, factory doors, hoists,
and gantry systems.
Features include:
• The ability to
attach to any
encoder with
6 mm shaft
and ø50
mm synchro
dimensions
(typified by
the Leine & Linde
type 63 flange).
• Measuring lengths ranging
from 2. 5 to 15 m.
• >0.02% full scale linearity.
• Extension forces between 10 and 25 N
depending upon measuring length.
• An anodized aluminium housing and poly-amide-coated stainless steel draw-wire.
• An operating temperature range from -20º
to +80ºC.
Why Would I Specify?
• The WDS draw-wire unit has a robust
and compact design that can be used
with either absolute or incremental rotary
encoders.
• When coupled to a 13 bit multi-turn
absolute encoder, the entire measuring
range can be covered with a resolution of
approximately 0.024 mm (0.001”).
• When the WDS series draw-wire is used
with Leine & Linde encoders, absolute
position can be provided over Profibus,
Profinet, DRIVE-CLiQ, SSI, EnDat,
CanOpen, and parallel interfaces.

The STAC5, from Applied Motion (Watsonville, CA) at
Servo2Go, provides up to 5 A per phase from a high bus
voltage with current control, delivering high torque over a
range of speeds. An anti-resonance algorithm with electronic
damping allows for max torque utilization and fast settling
times. Features include:
• A built-in power supply and regeneration clamp.
• The availability of 120 and 220 VAC models.
• 10/100 MBit Ethernet and EtherNet/IP.
• Advanced anti-resonance.
• The availability of 3 lengths of HT23 in single and double
shaft configurations.
• Holding torque ranging from 84 to 255 oz-in.
Why Would I Specify?
• The STAC5 includes an encoder feedback option, which
provides position verification, stall detection, and/or stall
prevention.
• The drive can be purchased with a range of high torque step motors optimized for use
with the drive.
• All models include 100 Mbit Ethernet communication with an interface that is used to
configure the drive and motor.
