Battery Free RFID Magnetometer Tag
The Magneto from Farsens S.L. (Spain) is a battery free RFID sensor tag capable of transmitting a unique identifier and the associated magnetic
field measurement data to a commercial EPC C1G2 reader without the need of a battery on the sensor tag. Features include:
■ A LIS3MDL magnetometer from ST Microelectronics.
■ A measurement range from ± 4 to ± 16 gauss.
■ The availability of a variety of antenna designs and sizes.
■ A reading distance of around 1.5 m.
of 7 mm flat angle
sensors. Designed for
use in industrial machinery, food processing equip-
ment, and mobile applications, they are sealed against
ingress of liquids, dust, and dirt to IP69K. Features include:
■ A magnetic position marker that is attached to a
rotating shaft or part on an application using 2
■ An electrical measurement range from 0° to 360°.
■ A 12-bit resolution with a repeatability of 0.1°.
■ An operating temperature range from -40° to +125°C.
Measurement Specialties (Hampton, VA) now offers the Model 8101, a
compact, low-cost accelerometer designed for general purpose vibration
measurement. The new plug-and-play piezoelectric linear accelerometer is available in two dynamic ranges, ±40 and ±160 g, for use in a
wide number of applications, as well as in two measurement directions,
either an X- or Z-axis configuration. The sensor is ideal for asset, impact,
and machine health monitoring, as well as data loggers, system wake-up
switches, and product R&D. Features include:
■ An environmentally sealed IP65 construction.
■ A stable piezo-ceramic shear design.
■ An operating temperature range from -40º to +85ºC.
■ An excitation voltage from 7 to 30 VDC.
■ A shock limit of 2,000 g.
■ An integral cable for plug and play.
Self-Cleaning Level Measurement
FloLevel Technologies (Australia) has launched a new self-cleaning acoustic level
and flow analyzer for Flotation Cells. This new technology measures pulp/slurry
interface and froth height, as well as froth
density and froth flow rate, to provide
process feedback to the control system.
■ Self-cleaning and self-checking properties.
■ An adjustable 316SS bracket, with flange
mounting options and a color display
controller mounted in a stainless steel
■ The ability to measure all types of
Flotation Cell, with depths > 6,000 mm.
■ Resolution accuracy options of 2, 15,
and 25 mm.
■ Various output capability options such as
4 x 4-20Ma, Modbus, ProfiBus,
Foundation FieldBus, DeviceNet, and Ethernet.
Designed for integration into spectroscopy instrumentation,
medical devices, process monitoring, and other applications
where a small footprint
is desired, the STS-UV
from Ocean Optics
(Dunedin, FL) is a
compact yet high-performance spectrometer.
The STS-UV provides

■ Optimization for applications in the
ultraviolet (190-650 nm).
■ A high signal to noise and wide dynamic range.
■ A 1024-element detector.
■ A crossed Czerny Turner optical bench.
