Compact Smart Stage with Absolute Encoding
New Scale Technologies (Victor, NY) has announced the addition of absolute
encoding to its M3-LS Linear Smart Stage, a USB micro stage with fully-integrated
drive electronics. Features include:
■ A self-locking SQUIGGLE piezo motor that holds position when power is
turned off.
■ A low resolution optical encoder.
■ A novel slide with 6 radial ball bearings arranged in a kinematic “v” guide-way.
■ A measure of < 29 x 20 x 10 mm.
■ 6 mm travel with < 10 µm run-out.
■ A 3. 3 VDC input and the ability to be powered by USB or standard batteries.

Auto-Tensioning Motor Base
Browning's (Florence, KY) new Tenso-set Series 600 horizontal sliding motor base with optional quick release (QR) is available for NEMA
motor frame sizes 56 to 286 and IEC equivalents. The design is a drop-in replacement for standard motor
bases. Features include:
■ A coil spring inside the
screw housing that
pushes against the
carriage to maintain tension as
the belt
wears or
seats itself
further into
the sheave
groove.
■ A patent-pending lever design
that releases the motor carriage from
the base after a few turns of the tensioning screw.
■ A heavy steel construction.

In-Line Tensioner System
Montalvo (Gorham,
ME) has designed a
new In-Line Tensioner
System to create a tension control zone prior
to specific processing.
Operators are able to
manually adjust output to the brake to
create the exact
desired tension
level based on the
precise tension
feedback provided
from the load cells displayed on the indicator.
Features include:
■ A CD Series Brake.
■ An i4 Tension Indicator.
■ A pair of ES-LR Live Roller Load Cells.
