unique metric M6 ceramic spindle, it transmits up to 315 N in short-

Linear Translation Stage for Nanopositioning
PI (Physik Instrumente) (Auburn, MA) has launched a new type of positioning stage based on
a miniaturized ceramic inertia drive. The PI miCos LPS-45 linear translation stage is designed
to position samples along a precisely guided path with distances up to 1". The position of the
moving platform is measured by an optical linear encoder with nanometer resolution and controlled in closed-loop operation by a compact electronic motion controller. Features include:

mm (1/2") and 26 mm (1").

motor controller IC for use with the direct current (DC) and
single- or dual-phase brushless direct current (BLDC) motors.
Intended for environments with elevated temperature levels,
the MLX81150 incorporates many of the external components critical for DC/BLDC motor control into its
compact package, curbing board space utilization, bill
of materials costs, and system power budget.
■ A 16-bit embedded Flash microcontroller, with 32 kB memory.
■ A built-in 4-bit central processor that takes care of the LIN protocol.
